Here's
an image of a dumb guy - click to enlarge.
He lives in West Virginia and always wore a motorcycle helmet,
he preached about it and motorcycle safety. I've ridden across
country with him and on many other long motorcycle trips.
Last year I got a phone call from a hospital in West Virginia,
telling me I'd better get up there. Seems he picked up a woman on
his bike and only had one helmet, he gave it to her.
Somehow he lost
control on a curve and went down. He was in intensive care for a
week, didn't know who I was or even his own children. Yes, he was
brain damaged. A few broken bones here and there, but the worst part
was the brain damage. His family and friends took care of him once he was
released to go home. He has slowly recovered, and the doctors are
surprised he is now almost normal.
What's the point? While he was in the hospital, I told him what had
happened and he said I was wrong, that he always wore a helmet. No,
not this time guy. It only takes one.
He sold his Harley Ultra and
may never be able to ride again.
Wear a helmet and wear it all the time. Don't do it for you, do
it for your loved ones and your friends and family. It's hard on your friends
and family when they come to visit you in the hospital and you
don't know who they are. There's a lot of tears shed. It may be pain
in the butt to always wear a helmet, but .........
